Department of Defense UAV Challenge

This has been out for a couple of months now, but I though it was interesting enough to share.

The Department of Defense has issued a challenge to build a UAV (Unmanned Arial Vehicle) that needs to meet several requirements, such as observe a location for up to three hours at a maximum of two miles away. The challenge is open to everyone, with the winner receiving $100,000 and working with a manufacturer to produce up to 15 systems that will be evaluated and tested by the Defense Advanced Research Project Agency (DARPA).

More information on the challenge can be found at http://challenge.gov/DoD/212-uav-forge and http://www.uavforge.net/

If this particular challenge is not appealing to you, there are more available at challenge.gov. See if there is anything that would be of interest. Don’t just beat the challenge, soar above it!
